Five S5 girls, Cheung Sze Wan, Fan Oi Lam, Tam Kit Yan Bonny, Wong Beatrice and Yeung Tsz Ting Athena, have decided to show off their great voices by forming a singing group called the Quins. What makes the Quins successfully stand out from the crowd is that they go for a rarely chosen singing style – acapella!

What is Acapella?

The term Acapella refers to a kind of music which is performed without instrumental sounds. This makes the five girls from our school stand out from other ordinary singing groups. This style allows them more novelty, spontaneity, flexibility and most importantly, a closer connection with the audience.

What have the 5 girls done?

They have been rearranging songs to suit their very unique style and practicing really hard for different occasions. For example, they visited a Po Leung Kuk elderly home early on and their performances were surely impressive to the grannies and grandpas. Besides, they have decided to rise to the challenge by join different singing contests.

Chanter aux étoiles by HKFSU

What is more encouraging is that they took part in an inter-school singing contest called Chanter aux étoiles organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Students Union (HKFSU) and brought home with them the 2nd place and the most impressive award. Their hard work finally paid off and it’s proven to be a good start in their avenue of stars!

TEEN星初現 - 綜合才藝大比拼

In order to further demonstrate their talents, they have enrolled themselves in another competition called TEEN星初現 - 綜合才藝大比拼 which is co-organized by Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association and Tseung Kwan O Intergrated Social Service Centre. To their surprise, the Quins were crowned with the title – the Best Performance Award and this award has become the huge mount stone in their path of becoming great performers in their showbiz.
