ESD in LFC

Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland Report, 1987)

Sustainability is a key for long-term development. Hardware are, of course, important in supporting sustainable development in a school. But in Po Leung Kuk Laws Foundation College, focuses have been put also on educating the younger generations for sustainable development. This is because educating the owners of the campus – our students – is the key criterion for long-term success, particularly in building up a green, harmony, culturally-mixed and low-carbon campus.

Sustainability is “the concept that oriented to the future” (Williams & Haughton, 1994). It describes a state or condition to be continued more or less indefinitely (Bhaskar & Glyn, 1995). In other words, it is the balance of resources extraction and allocation over time, so present and future generations get a fair share. The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Po Leung Kuk Laws Foundation actualizes our belief “Education for Future. Education for Life”.
