Students and parents are often placed in a dilemma where they struggle between choosing a CMI (Chinese as the Medium of Instruction) and an EMI (English as the Medium of Instruction) school. In view of this frustration faced by both P6 students and their parents, our school took the initiative to organize the Experience EMI Learning Day to help prospective S1 students to get first-hand experience on English as the medium of instruction. Through spending a comprehensive day at an EMI school, students understand more thoroughly which medium of instruction will suit them most.

以中文或是英文作為教學語言,是每位準中一學生及家長的難題。有見及此,本校舉辦「英中體驗日」予準中一學生及其家長,讓他們體驗以英語上課。透過準中一學生自己的經驗,他們會更清楚知道哪種教學語言較為適合自己。

我們希望加入不同形式的器械訓練,令學生能夠正確使用各種器械和認識一些訓練理論,最終能自己制定個人健身計劃。無論是提升心肺功能,重塑身形,提升運動表現等。

There are numerous intangible benefits which students can attain at LFC fitness centre. Each student has his or her own unique fitness level. By using the equipment provided in the centre, they can find out about their strengths and weaknesses, and later train according to their physical needs.

夢想飛行

Light Up Your Aviation Dream

學生透過航空實驗室的硬件設備,如模擬飛行、駕駛倉飛行訓練、飛機結構來學習航空相關知識。課程透過滲入相關的科學知識,使學生能規劃飛行航線,模擬飛行。本課程以一個有趣實用,及透過實習的模式增加科目的求知慾。令到學生在一個不一樣的學習環境,從而學會探究及提高發問的精神。

Students can learn aviation related knowledge through our industry-grade equipment which includes the flight simulator, a cabin mock-up and an air-bus model. Students can have the opportunity to plan the route for the flying practices while applying scientific knowledge learned in the classroom. We offer a comprehensive experimental learning environment to stimulate students’ curiosity and their desire to pursue scientific discoveries. The ultimate goal is to nurture students with investigative skill and help them develop an inquisitive mindset.

企業概論課堂:企業社會責任

Business Studies Lesson: Accrual World: Corporate Social Responsibility

企業的營運與各界別的持分者之間息息相關,因此,營商時需要顧及各持分者的利益。企業社會責任強調企業應在獲得盈利和貢獻社會之間取得平衡。

通過案例研究,學生們可以在課堂中討論企業如何在營商時顧及不同持分者的利益,以提升學生的多角度思考能力。

完成課程後,我們希望學生能夠吸收相關的知識,包括:

了解與企業相關的不同持分者:
明白企業如何對各個持分者承擔社會責任
認識企業社會責任的重要性

Businesses cannot survive on their own. They have to interact with various types of parties and care for the parties’ concerns. Corporate social responsibility emphasizes that businesses should strike a balance between making profits and contributing to society.

Through case study, we can discuss how businesses should care for the interests of different stakeholders. 

Upon the completion of the course, students should be able to:

Understand who the stakeholders of a business are
Acknowledge how a business should be socially responsible to various stakeholders
Recognize the importance of corporate social responsibility

經濟學課堂:《$80環遊世界》

Economics Lesson: “Around The World in $80”

目標:

明白經濟學上的存款及利息
明白利息為何存在
透過桌上遊戲《$80環遊世界》,學生需要對現時消費及將來消費作出抉擇, 從而明白利息的意義。

Objectives:

To understand the meaning of ‘Deposit’ and ‘Interest’ in Economics.
To understand the importance and existence of interest.
Through a board game ‘Around the World in $80’, students decide how to allocate their resources to consume at present or later. After the discussion, students should understand the meaning of ‘Deposit’ and ‘Interest’.

土壤科學基礎課程

An Introductory Course of Soil Science

土壤是孕育萬物及萬物生長最重要的環境場所,它生產人類生存必須的糧食、纖維和能源。

為了可以科學化角度去探討土壤的質素,是次學習會於生態實驗室以實驗方式進行。

在這課程完結時,你將會學到:

-      土壤形成的因素
-      基礎土壤分析方法
-      如何自行測試土壤
-      如何在家自行改善土壤的質素

Soil is the cradle of all terrestrial life forms. It provides the environments for various ecological systems. Without the healthy soil, there will be neither safe water sources nor safe agricultural products.

Experiments in Ecology Laboratory will be conducted in order to analyse the soil from a scientific perspective.

By the ending of this course, you will be gifted:

To develop an understanding of what soil is made of and how it forms.
Basic soil quality analysis skills 
How to test soil quality by yourself
How to improve soil quality and health of your own plants

海洋微化石和微塑膠研究工作坊

Workshop on Studying Marine Microfossils and Microplastics

本課程介紹海洋微化石的形成,讓學生觀察在香港發現的微化石和微塑膠。學生將學習如何使用微深海化石獲取氣候數據記錄,以及微塑膠如何形成並影響生態系統和日常生活。

This lesson aims to introduce the formation of microfossils and allow students to observe microfossils and microplastics found in Hong Kong. Students will learn how to use microfossils to get the climate data records and how microplastics are formed and affect the ecosystem and human lives.

神經幹細胞培植工作坊

Workshop on Neural Stem Cell Culture

透過使用先進的高倍光學顯微鏡及實時影像系統,同學可觀察腦神經幹細胞的結構,認識幹細胞的基本特性。在老師的指導下,同學更可動手培植神經幹細胞,體驗本校獨特的幹細胞課程。

By using our cutting-edge microscope and real time imaging system, students would be able to observe the structures of neutral stem cells and study their characteristics. Under teacher's guidance, students could try culturing neural stem cells and experience our unique stem cell curriculum.

DNA鑑定分析工作坊

Workshop on Forensic Genetics

親子鑑定是一項應用DNA紋印分析,來確認父母與子女血源關係的生物技術。在工作坊,同學會化身成為小小法證先鋒,除了學習當中涉及的原理外,更會有實驗操作部分,以凝膠電泳來分析模擬DNA樣本是否存在血源關係。

DNA Paternity Testing allows testing of child’s paternal relationship by comparing the child’s DNA profile to the profile of the mother and possible father. After learning about the theory behind such tests, students will get to conduct paternity tests with samples provided by the school.

單擺與雙擺,由簡單和諧運動到混沌理論

The Physics from Simple Pendulum to Double Pendulum

學習利用計時器量度簡單鐘擺的週期,從而利用鐘擺週期去估計地深吸力的加速度。

課程內容:

研究影響鐘擺週期的因素。
介紹雙擺運動是其中一種混沌擺動。
透過研究雙擺運動,了解初始條件對雙擺運動軌跡的影響。

Learning how to use a stop-watch to measure the period of a simple pendulum and then using the corresponding period to estimate the gravitational acceleration.

Contents:

Investigating the factors affecting the period of oscillation of a simple pendulum.
Introducing the double pendulum as a kind of chaotic oscillation.
Through investigating the motion of a double pendulum, its motion is significantly affected by the initial conditions.

分析化學:色層法的原理及應用

Analytical Chemistry: Principle and Application of Chromatography

色層法是一個從溶液中分離溶質的有效方法。在這課堂中,學生可以學習色層法的基本原理,並親身體驗用色層法去分離菠菜葉中的葉綠素。

Chromatography is an effective method of separating the solutes in a solution. In this lesson, students can learn the basic principle of chromatography and will have hands-on experience to isolate the chlorophylls from spinach leaves by means of chromatography.

飛鏢課程

Dart Class

飛鏢是一項可以增強學生的身體協調能力,還可提高神經精確控制肌肉的能力,調整左右腦的平衡,也就是邏輯思維判斷和空間控制方面的平衡。飛鏢亦可訓練學生的專注力,當中不同的比賽模式更需要鬥智鬥力。

Darts is an excellent sport to gain fine motor control and hand eye coordination. Playing darts can improve students’ ability to concentrate. The sport also involves a lot of strategic planning as each throw is a tactical move.

人工智能基礎課程

Introductory Course on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

本課程教授學生人工智能的基本概念和應用。課程中編程和工程設計的實作經驗能增強他們的解難及創新能力。

Students will learn fundamental AI knowledge in the course. They will work with hands-on and interconnected coding tasks throughout the course. This will enhance students’ ability to solve complex problems systematically and agilely.

Workshop on Creative Media

同學將化身小導演,一手包辦拍攝、剪輯及影像輸出,最終創作出一條創意短片。

中國語文課程:詞裏談情

以流行歌詞切入,探討詞人如何刻畫情感;學員將應用所學習到的技巧,寫作詩句。詩句將被製作成有個性化的書籤,以作留念。

課程內容:

介紹以文字抒情的若干種手法;
精選詞句研討;
學生改寫或創作;
製作個性化書籤。

編劇大師

Screenwriting Course

課程介紹戲劇或小說作品常用的創作原理。學員將學以致用,分組編作屬於自己的故事,並以「讀劇」的形式,向其他「觀眾」展演。

課程內容:

介紹「特定情境」、「地點」、「人物」、「物品」、「目的」、「衝突」、「化解」等編劇元素;
以經典故事為例,介紹編劇原理;
學生根據場景寫作台詞。

數學資優課程:你其實是發現者

Gifted Education Course in Mathematics: You Can Make Discoveries.

同學置身一個學習的空間。他們不再只坐著聽課,而是開始發現事物。他們會動手體驗如數列等抽象的數學概念。他們會經歷自己能發現公式,而不是被告知。還有,他們會遇上如井字過三關,虹矽板上的尼姆遊戲。他們能夠以數學的方式去理解遊戲、發現致勝的策略及遊戲的本質。

 

Students place themselves in a space of learning. They make discoveries instead of being taught in lectures. They will tackle various Mathematical concepts like sequences and series. They will also be able to work out the formulae themselves. They will also get to decode games like tic-tac-toe, games of nim, etc. in terms of their mathematical principles. Figuring out a winning strategy and the mathematical nature of different games.

English Language: A Movie Ending Rewritten

Students put their screenwriting skills to work to create a new ending for a popular film. They are challenged to keep the dialog true to character, and to add their own twists and surprises that the original writers could never have imagined.

English Language: Puppet Drama Performance

Students get to make their own puppets based on characters from a famous children novel. They will be able to produce a drama scene creatively, and perform it with their unique puppet characters, mastering conversational English with fun.

視覺藝術工作坊

When we wish upon a star

Students get to make their own star maps by learning brush lettering with a brush pen and painting a galaxy background by mastering the skill of soft pastel.
透過製作星圖,讓學生學習乾粉彩及英文書法。

 

注意事項Remarks

(1) 不設訪客車位。

(2) 如遇下列情況,活動將會取消:(a) 天文台發出紅/黑色暴雨警告;或八號或以上熱帶氣旋警告;或(b) 教育局宣佈停課。

(3) 請使用寶康路入口。進校時請出示門票。影印本、以電子屏幕方式展示、截圖或截屏皆無效。每票只限一人進場,並只限已申請的場次。

(4) 獲取錄參與體驗課堂的學生請提早15分鐘到場(遲到之學生不得參與),並必須帶備學生證/手冊以茲證明。其家長/監護人亦必須出席家長講座。

(5) 參與證書只於即場派發予完成課堂的學生。未有領取者作放棄論,不作補發。

(6) 請勿於課室內拍攝或攝錄。

(7) 入學講座及體驗課堂門票不得以任何方式買賣、轉售、交換或以其他不誠實途徑取得。

 

(1) Should parents wish to drive, please use the public parking lot nearby.

(2) Under the following unlikely circumstances, the event will be cancelled: (a) The Observatory issues a Red/ Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, or Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above; OR (b) The EDB announces suspension of schools.

(3) Please use the entrance at Po Hong Road and be admitted with a valid ticket per person and for the applied session. A valid paper ticket needs to be presented at the entrance where photocopied tickets, tickets shown electronically, screen-captured tickets and so on are NOT accepted.

(4) Students enrolled in the lesson should arrive 15 minutes earlier (latecomers will be considered as withdrawing from the lesson) and present his/ her handbook/ student card for identity verification. His/ her parent/ guardian MUST also attend the admission talk.

(5) Certificates will be presented only to students who have completed the lesson.

(6) Photo-taking and video-taking are NOT allowed in classrooms.

(7) Tickets for admission talk and lesson are not for sale, non-transferable, non-exchangeable and should not be acquired through dishonest means.

 

有關體驗課堂的安排 Arrangement on the lesson

(1) 體驗課堂總名額為150人,以隨機形式分配(並非先到先得)。

(2) 每項課堂只供4-6位學生體驗,個別課堂的人數上限按不同因素而有所差異。

(3) 完成報名程序並不表示學生必然可獲取錄參與體驗課堂。本校將於活動舉行前七天公佈分配結果。

(4) 學生最終可能不獲任何體驗課堂取錄,或獲分配到未有選擇的體驗課堂。


(1) A total of 150 places is available for lessons. Applications will be allocated randomly (not on first come first served basis).

(2) Only 4 to 6 students are allowed for each lesson. Depending on various factors, the capacity of individual lessons varies.

(3) Completion of application does NOT imply that your child must be enrolled in a lesson. The allocation result will be announced a week in advance.

(4) Your child may be allocated to NONE of the lessons, OR allocated to a lesson which is not applied for.
