Short bio

 

Dr. Cheung Kwok Wah is currently Dean of Education and Languages, Open University of Hong Kong.  Before joining the OUHK, he has been Principal Assistant Secretary (Curriculum Development) in the Education Bureau (2009 – 2013).  Prior to his appointment to EDB, he has been Assistant Professor, M.Ed. Program Director, Directorof Wah Ching Centre of Research on Education in China (CREC) as well as Associate Dean, Faculty of Education,the University of Hong Kong (1992 – 2009).  He is a sociologist of education by trainingand has received his doctoral degree from theInstitute of Education, the University of London.  

His research interest is education policy and Chinese educationand has published various papers on the issue of moral education development in China, as well as social development in China.   

Dr. Cheung Kwok Wah has also been appointed to different advisory committees by the Hong Kong SAR Government.Hehas been a part-time member of the Central PolicyUnit, theChairpersonof the Committee on Home School Co-operationand member of theEducation Commission, as well as Council member, Hong Kong Institute of Education.  He is currently Associate member of Central Policy Unit, as well as a review member of Public Policy Research Funding Scheme.  He is also serving as member of management boards in a number of schools in Hong Kong.
