Our students were awarded a merit prize

in Hong Kong Youth Science & Technology Innovation Competition 2015-2016

This year, our students studied the neuroprotective effects of mung beans, red beans, rice beans and black beans.  These edible beans are commonly found in Chinese sweet soup.  In the study, these young scientists found that some edible beans can protect brain cells against oxidative stress.

On April 3, 2016, our students were awarded a merit prize in Hong Kong Youth Science & Technology Innovation Competition 2015-2016.

On April 2, 2016, they presented their research findings in the final of Hong Kong Youth Science & Technology Innovation Competition 2015-2016.

They established a cellular model to study neuroprotection.  The cells they used in the study were SH-SY5Y cells.  The photo below shows that they were doing experiments in DiagCor Biotechnology Laboratory in Po Leung Kuk Laws Foundation College.
