The parents of students came to the airport to support the whole team of young neuroscientists.

The whole team was going to take a 17-hour flight to Washington DC, USA.

Wong King Chung made good use of his time to do revision during this long flight.

They arrived at Ronald Regan Washington National Airport at 7:15pm. They were waiting for Metro after dinner in the airport.

In the morning, we visited different places in Washington DC.

In the afternoon, the whole team of young neuroscientists moved to Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Teachers were going to present their research paper about the school-based neuroscience curriculum in PLK Laws Foundation College.

Dr. Raymond C.C. Chang (second left), Associate Professor, School of Biomedical Science, HKU was sharing his experience in doing scientific research.

Students were visiting scientific posters presented by different neuroscientists.

Students were sharing what they had learnt.

Students were attending a presidential lecture (Topic: Insights from nonhuman animals Into the neurobiology of language).

In the morning, students visited different exhibitor booths.

Students attended a special lecture (Topic: Using memory to guide decisions).

Nov 13, 2017 (Monday)

In the morning, the 12 young neuroscientists attended different lectures about circadian clocks, memory and gene modification in brain cells by viral vectors. The topics are as follows:

•          Cellular circadian clocks in the brains of helpless mice

•          Improving delivery of viral vectors to specific regions of the non-human primate brain

•          Neural correlates of an associative memory of elapsed time

•          Visual-verbal working memory training versus visual search training have overlapping and distinct transfer effects on tasks of spatial working memory and cognitive control: An event-related potential study

•          A novel mobile video game to assess the neural correlates of working and visual spatial memory for the brainstation wearable electroencephalography system

They were discussing what they had learnt from the lectures.

In the afternoon, students visited White House.

Nov 14, 2017 (Tuesday)

In the morning, students visited Smithsonian's National Zoo and International Spy Museum.

In the afternoon, our young neuroscientists attended a Presidential Lecture (topic: Polymorphous polygenicity: The story of the genome in Schizophrenia).  Before the lecture, students were sharing what they had prepared for it.

We’re happy that we had a nice dinner with Dr. Chang and his Ph.D. student.

Our students presented their research findings on that day.

The end of presentation indicated the end of this conference trip.
