Welcome To PLKLFC Student Council

Student Council, founded since 2007, was formed to grant students authorities, obligations and rights to help build and manage our school. We believe that students, as one of the owners of this school, should be given autonomy and responsibility to voice out, participate and manage. We believe that a better school, a sense of belonging and a spirit of democracy should be built and exercised under substantial enthusiasm and cooperation among all individuals, especially teachers and students. It is, therefore, necessary to have our school’s Student Council formed as an official preliminary organization to Student Union for further scholastic development in the not-too-distant future. The 4 houses student council members are each responsible for a certain area of managing our school.

Yellow House is the bureau responsible for school community. It aims to raise students’ awareness of being environmental friendly, especially at school. Furthermore, we hope to beautify the school by putting some plants and flowers, since we want to increase and foster students’ sense of responsibility and belonging to the school. On the other hand, we will try and maintain the tidiness of the campus by carrying out Pure Project, hopefully, this project will bring a better environment for students. By succeeding in our aims, we need students not to litter anywhere in the school campus and be self-disciplined. We will also provide more rubbish bins for students to throw the rubbish in those and decrease the amount of litter. Our main purpose is to promote the 3Rs, Reuse, Recycle and Reduce. Since Yellow house wants all of the students and teachers to have a better place and a better campus, please fulfill your own duties too as a student.

Red House is the bureau responsible for campus management, which directly links to the school resources. These are the equipment and facilities, which are mainly managed by our students, like the desks and lockers in classrooms, laboratories and the basketball courts. Our aims are to develop the culture of managing school facilities by students, promote a sense of belonging in class and caring of classroom facilities, achieve the purpose of fully utilizing school facilities in order to develop students’ all rounded development and train them up to be a reasonable person during the bargaining process of buying equipment with school. To succeed in these, we require students to participate in inter-class competitions focusing on the safety and responsible use of the school equipment and facilities. Our taskforce will overlook the scores and assess the proper use of the school equipment and facilities. In our previous school year, we have distributed a questionnaire to the form 3 students of Red House to ask for their opinions and wants for the activities during the post-examination period. For what we have done so far, we have faith to do everything at our very best. We hope to give students a better learning environment and a chance for them to express their opinions.

Green House is the department responsible for the “Health and Growth” in school. Our aims are improving personal and public hygiene, promoting the importance of tidiness and cleanliness and raising student’s personal growth.

Green House is going to try their best and keep up the standard of personal and public hygiene of our school. Green House strongly believes that the personal hygiene will affect the public. Hence, it is very important to promote the tidiness and cleanliness by patrolling. Furthermore, we are also concerned about student’s personal growth which can be enhanced by promoting activities and competitions like the Pure Project. Consequently, we can care about them more in this specific aspect.

Green House has been organizing some regular meetings to discuss the problems about our student’s behaviors and solutions to solve these problems. By succeeding in those, questionnaire, survey, patrol and investigation are needed.

We will also set up a taskforce in order to investigate, have a comprehensive planning and initiate inter-house competition focusing on the public and personal tidiness and cleanliness, such as Pure Project.

Blue House is responsible for the culture and recreational bureau. In the coming years, we will promote fair games and plays to develop the culture of sportsmanship. In order to bring the four houses in harmony, we will be organising more joint houses activities to train students with courtesy in games e.g. shaking hands with the competitors before or after the games to show respects to the others. Besides, we encourage students to write articles in response to houses for Forever Young. As to develop their relationships, we are promoting peer learning by senior students teaching junior students in playing games or sports in order to enhance their skills, increase the number of games and sharing instead of competitions. To fulfill the above targets, the secretaries of the Bureau and the committee members of Houses have regular meetings in order to enhance the cooperation between the four houses and express their feelings and suggestions in a more direct and easier way. We will also collect the students’ opinions and views by asking them to complete the questionnaires and surveys for the joint houses activities. Through the above tasks, we may strengthen the whole school as a unit and become more peaceful and harmonic.

Inauguration Ceremony:

The inauguration ceremony was officiated by our school advisor, Professor Allan David Walker, from The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 28th June, 2007.
