Exchange Tour to Singapore 2019 - Introduction

Introduction

In October 2018, students carried out researches on the air quality with portable air monitoring devices supported by Quality Education Fund.  The devices are set up with reference to the six air pollutants constituting the AQHI of Environmental Protection Department (SO2, NO2, CO, O3, PM2.5, PM10).

During the study, students investigated the difference of air quality inside and outside of the Po Lam Transport Interchange.  It is postulated that the air quality in the Interchange is worse than that of outside.

At the end of the study, the team of students receive an opportunity to travel to Singapore, and meet the students from St Andrew’s Junior College.  Our students have brought with them the air quality devices and carried out another environmental research on campus air quality with the Singaporean students.

Through measurement, data analysis, discussion and presentation, students develop better understanding on geographical fieldwork skills.  They also develop awareness towards environmental issues especially on air quality.
